More crack downs on Vacation Rentals and Bed and Breakfast without operating without a license

I just saw an article in the Niagara Advance about the challenges of a few vacation rentals that are making it a problem for those that operate responsibly!

This brings back the memories of about 5 years ago when Niagara-on-the-Lake Vacation Rentals were facing a ban.   In our town its commonly known as Cottage Rentals, but for the rest of the world, I think they are more familiar with the terms Vacation Rental or Holiday Housing.   However, no matter what you call them, they need to be run responsibly.

Our Amazing Little Town!

Its Sunday Morning in the middle of July, Eric and I have been working pretty much 7 days a week since May and we are getting a little tired of the routine but also content that everything at our vacation rentals are running smoothly.  This year has been proof in the pudding that being proactive on maintenance, staffing, supply inventory and repairs has reduced our stress levels immensely.

What did I learn on Canada Day - July 1, 2017

To celebrate Canada's 150th Birthday, I decided to learn a little more about Niagara-on-the-Lake.  What surprised me is what I thought I knew I didn't.  Go figure?!  So, in addition to clarifying some history, I thought I'd also find out what else I wasn't aware of about Niagara-on-the-Lake.

Originally named Newark, our town was settled by the British military in 1781.  The commons was a training ground and the area we now call Chautauqua was where families camped while their loved ones were in training.  If you look at a google map, you can see Chautauqua by the circle and spokes.   Later this area became summer homes to those who lived in Chautauqua NY and the streets are named after them.&...
