It’s the New Year and it’s time to start planning your vacation!  Whether you are looking for a short trip away or taking a few weeks you should start by getting your accommodation in place by booking a vacation rental first!   Renting a house for your holiday can be challenging with all the different websites out now but booking directly always gives you the best price and don't forget most credit cards offer trip insurance!  Niagara Holiday Rentals is a registered provider of accommodation with Visa or MasterCard, by booking with us your card should cover you without any additional cost!

2017 is going to be a great year for our regions for so many reasons.  so book a house for your home base to explore the Niagara Region!  Bicycling has become a number one choice of entertainment, and what better way to see the award winning internationally recognized prettiest little town in Canada.  You bet, we won!  The drone video attached to this blog is a great way to get a start to planning what you want to do and see while you are in Niagara-on-the-Lake and the surrounding area!  We are so much more than Niagara Falls!   Community in Blooms has entered our town into the international completion for the size of our town and the Judging is in July.  So you know we locals will be primping and pruning all spring long to get ready!

The other big news is the celebration activities around Canada's 150th birthday.  Niagara-on-the-Lake is the original capital of Canada so a lot of celebration activities are being planned all year long.  We kicked off with a street party on New Year's Eve with live music and a countdown at the cenotaph at the corner of Queen and King St.    We will have a traveling play to go to different historical sites, Fort George has a tonne of events planned (including two beer shows!) and entrance to Fort George is free all year!  Check out and look at the events page.  You may want to change your dates to be here for the tall ships!!!   Or one of the festivals from Strawberries, Lavender, Garlic, Cherries, Peaches, Wine and Ice Wine, we’ll turning anything into a Festival that is full of learning and fun!   Lots of stuff for the family too!  At Fort George there is free skating all week long, on the weekends you can rent skates for $5 but bring your bike helmet!

When planning a vacation for family or friends, this is a great place to leave a bit of unplanned time.  You vacation rental can be your home base for a lot of activities like wine tours, bike tours, exploring on your own, shopping and we are the culinary capital of Canada!  But sometimes just hanging out at the house with the people you care about is the best part.  Grab a glass of wine, get in comfortable clothes and hang out with each other.   Did you know that the Cannery Restaurant in the Pillar and Post Inn received the award for one of the top 50 steak houses by Open Table and that the Back House was the best new restaurant?
