Christmas Shopping and Support Small Business in
Historic Niagara-on-the-Lake

Well its about that time of year to start thinking about Christmas Shopping.  Do you hate the idea
of malls and big box stores?  Why not support small business and venture out into Niagara-on-the-Lake.
Shopping in old town will definitely bring you back to classic simple times with the decorated light posts , Christmas decorations and if your lucky soft snow falling.  This shopping experience will definitely take you back to simpler times.  As if in a scene from the movie “It’s a Wonderful Life” the small town feel will have you humming Christmas Tunes in no time.  But what about the shopping you ask??  Here are a few of my favourite stores.

For those fudge lovers drop by to pick up some at Maple Leaf Fudge, they are currently having a promotion buy 3 get 1 for free.  And they sell more than fudge!

What’s a classic town without a hat store!  One of my favourite stores is beau chapeau…the selection is amazing and you will be in for hours trying on hats and envisioning gifts for your friends and family.  The wooden floors and ambiance will make this one of your favourites too.

For those men on your list take a stroll to visit Andrew at Halley’s Fashion, tell him Mary sent you.
They have a large selection of mens wear, including the famous Sax’s world famous underwear.

Looking for a present for your wife, mother, or that special woman in your life.  The Butterfly Gallery will be another one of your favourite stops.  This shop displays many gifts and clothing glorifying the beauty
of the butterfly.  I have purchased many gifts from this shop and the prices are more than reasonable.

For the art collectors and animal lovers you would be remiss if you missed popping into Ed Spera’s Gallery.
His art portrays his travels around the world painting nature, wildlife and ocean life.  He has originals and
prints for all price ranges.

The most famous shop in Old Town would be Canada’s Oldest year round Christmas Shop. Walking in here is like walking in Santa’s Workshop.  Decorations, lights, socks, mugs, magnets, all Christmas!  You may
even get a glimpse of Mr. Claus himself!! They also are mainly known for their world famous personalized glass balls.  Get one for everyone on your list!!

These shops are to name a few. There are many, many more shops and don’t forget the side streets.
We have found a few new favourites including this little gem called One Earth.  Selling teas, and sweat free clothing, slippers etc.  So again don’t forget the side streets.

If you need a break, a few tea and coffee shops can be found on the street.  Starbucks, Victoria Teas
and Balzacs to name a few.  After a long day shopping and sipping tea and coffee we like to finish our day with a nice meal.  Restaurants are also up and down the street and includes fine dining such as Treadwell, on the go meals such as Old Town Goodies or Pub food such as the Irish Harp or the Olde Angel Inn.
