Tulips are late this year, but worth the wait! Niagara On The Lake, Ontario

Spring usually arrives in late April in Niagara-on-the-Lake but this year with the cold snap and weird weather patterns it's a little late. But that just means Mother Nature is putting on a spectacular show for Mother's Day Weekend!

The trees are just out, the fruit trees are in full blossom - Cherry, Apple , Peach, and the tulips are just coming into the prime!

My garden has Trilliums, forsythia, daffodils, and the beginnings of hostas, ferns and other things I planted but can't remember. That's why I love spring, its always a surprise. My most spectacular so far is the anticipation of the red bud I planted 3 years ago.

This is its first year where every little branch, is covered in buds. It should be spectacular for my Mother-in-Law's arrival on Sunday!

Mother's day is a special treat because the garden centres all are putting on specials, the Prince of Wales Hotel has a special Mother's day High Tea and most other venues are paying tribute to all those special women we love and cherish. I am especially lucky to be sharing a week with both my Mum and my Mum-in-Law. Those two together really know how to have fun!

The butterfly conservatory is a special treat anytime of year! And afterward McFarland House opens for High Tea this weekend. Both are run by Niagara Parks and will make a Mother's Day that any Mom of any age will remember!

Did you blow it and forget to make plans for Mother's Day? Then give a gift of a weekend away with you and the family!

Niagara- on-the-Lake also boasts some of the best spa's in Ontario. The 100 Fountain Spa at the Pillar and Post is my favourite. I love the outdoor hot tub with the water fall. But you have to book early and plan ahead.

A treatment like a pedicure or a body wrap or a massage also gets you a full day pass to enjoy fitness classes, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, steam room, yoga classes and lots of other stuff.

Have you ever heard of Goat Yoga?

Several wineries are offering goat yoga at special times. Southbrook, Small Talk and several other wineries are venues where Fox Den yoga bring their baby goats. Now my mother loves yoga, but goats ... well lets just say, she'd be sipping wine and letting me play with the goats!

For the more adventurous Mom's Niagara Parks has a whole host of activities from hiking, cycling, bouldering, birding or one of my favourite activities GeoCaching!

There is something for everyone in the family to do anytime of year. Celebrate Mom all year long! A weekend getaway anytime of year is an especially great way to spend time with Mom.

Lots of one on one and when everyone is a guest at a vacation rental, it levels the playing field so nobody needs to play host. Just relax and enjoy.

Call Niagara Holiday Rentals today at 905-468-8985 and we will not only help you find the best vacation rental for your visit to Niagara-on-the-Lake but also recommend some of the best stuff to do while you're in town!
