·         Petticoats, Boots and Muskets offers a glimpse into the domestic side of life during the war of 1812, told in song, words, and humour. Local heroes, saints and sinners all have their moment to shine in this cabaret version of Canada’s historic war – told with a nod to the absurd, as well as the facts.   Come and celebrate Niagara’s local history with some authentic period snacks – made by Pam Mundy who will also serve you some lemonade and share secrets of the kitchen. (Not to be missed – Pam’s rosewater iced cookies, and her famous shortbread.) In a tent tavern “The Black Swan” (affectionately remembering one of Niagara’s early pubs) a group of young actors challenge some of the myths and legends of the War of 1812. Why did General Brock charge up a steep hill directly into the face of the enemy? Did Laura actually walk with a cow? And what about those plucky local women who personally attacked invading Americans? You can find out more, and leave singing a song or two, in this lunchtime romp through history. When: Saturdays & Sundays at 12.30 pm from July 6 to August 25. (no shows on August ¾ & 10/11) Tickets: $15 includes admission to the Museum (on Castlereigh and Davy St)
