Having a gathering of friends and or family?

Our vacation homes in Niagara-on-the-Lake are licensed by the Town and we have to operate under strict by-laws or we could jeopardize our ability to continue to offer our very excellent vacation homes to travellers to the Niagara Region. Lots of times the purpose of your visit is to visit Niagara Falls, go to a play at the Shaw Festival, visit the international award winning wineries, restaurants and breweries.   We also have lots of festivals from the Strawberry Festival in June, Cherry Festival in July, Peach Festival in August, Wine Festival in September and the Ice Wine Festival in January!   Still, more and more Niagara-on-the-Lake is becoming a destination for weddings and reunions.

Weddings and Reunions always pose a problem for vacation homes not just because of the license, but these are ‘normal’ homes and just cannot sustain the wear and tear of continually hosting large gatherings. Also we need to respect our neighbours. Old town where everyone likes to stay, is primarily residential and we don’t want to be those irresponsible neighbours that interferes with our neighbours enjoying their own property! Also parking is a problem, so we can’t have a bunch of cars parked out front or they could be tagged and towed.

So here is some really interesting venues that you can book to host any celebration activities !   The Gazebo at Queens Royal Park (originally built for the opening scene of Stephen King’s first move, the Dead Zone and later donated to the town) can be rented! Also the town offers other rooms that are interesting venues!

Q: How do I reserve the gazebo for a wedding?
A: The gazebo can be reserved by calling the Parks & Recreation office at 905-468-4386 ext. 1
. The gazebo can accommodate up to 12 people. Bookings are in 3 hour blocks of time, 9 am - 12 noon, 1 pm - 4 pm and 5 pm - 8 pm. Cost is $150.00 per block of time. Booking the gazebo does not ensure you any park space and does not guarantee any parking. No chairs, tables or tents are to be set up in park. Gazebo must be paid for at time of booking.

Q: What halls does the Town have for rent?
A: The Town rents out the Grand Hall and John Drope hall from mid October to mid March. The Queenston Library in Queenston is available year round. The Mary Snider Room and the Board Room in the Centennial Arena can also be rented for meetings year round. Call the Parks & Recreation division at 905-468-4386 ext. 1 for rental rates and availability. The Community Centre on Anderson Lane is available year round. To book, please call 905-468-4386.

Through Fort George you can book Historic Navy Hall

The Scout Hall which is operated by the Kinsmen Club is available for Rentals. Contact: Rod Konik 905 468-4383 Rates are $25/hr or $300 weekend evening!

There are many more venues, but these are the ones that I think offer the charm of the Town! However there are still very unique places like Kurtz’s Orchard or go on a private wine tour hosted by Hidden Gem Tours or the Grape Escape!

There are lots of reasons to come visit us in Niagara-on-the-Lake! We are always happy to offer accommodation! But any celebration activity involving more than the number of people the house can sleep are best arranged at a more appropriate venue!
