Top Farms in Niagara-on-the-Lake

Added: Mar 30, 2018
Category: Stuff Eric & Janet Recommend

Niagara-on-the-Lake is more than shopping, eating and viewing. It's a heritage city for a reason and that's because it boasts many farms and markets to visit in the area!

Walker's Country Market

Let's start with one of our favourites, Walker's Country Market which will be opening in May.

In business since the 1930's its quaint buildings will make you stop and come inside! Jams, baked goods, fresh fruit, and so much more. In town for a bike ride, or hiking? They also do boxed lunches! Perfect for your on the go day!

Niagara Essential Oils and Blends (NEOB)

Another one of our favourites is Neob Niagara.

Past guests of Niagara Holiday Rentals may remember the soaps and shampoos we provide in the houses we rent. Yes, that's Neob!

They make Niagara Essential Oils and Blends right at the farm! Neob is Niagara's first and only commercial lavender grower and essential oil producer. Come book a tour and they will show you how it's done.

Kurtz Orchards

Kurtz Market has been in Niagara for over 3 generations.

Offering picnic baskets for your hiking and biking day, farm luncheons, freshly-harvested fruit in the marketplace daily.

Peaches, cherries, apricots, plums, strawberries and more. 50-acres of fields, orchards and vineyards surround the market. Also homemade soups, cheeses, baked goods and breads. Mmmmmmmmmmm.

The Fruit Shack

The Fruit Shack, is either on your way in or out of town. Local grown fruits and veggies are displayed inside the store!

Known for their butter tarts, voted the best in Canada! A soft and gooey filling wrapped in their homemade pastry. Go early they sell out often!

UPDATE (June 2019): The Fruit Shack has closed and now in it's place is The Grove.

The Market @ The Village

Heading into their 12th season, The Market @ the Village is a local favourite! Watch their website for opening day.

Farmer's Market is hosted every Saturday morning during the season (May to October) and all vendors originate from the Niagara Region.

The Supper Market is hosted Wednesday evenings and is full of food trucks, food vendors, local wine and beer. Free admission AND free parking! A fun filled family event is a must to put on your list.

These are a few of our favourites but while going for a scenic drive in Niagara-on-the-Lake watch out for street vendors throughout where you may find your favourite seasonal fruits and vegetables.

Bring your purchases back to your holiday rental home and cook up BBQ with friends and family! Plan your vacation today!
