Although we recommend our guests book direct with us for the best price and the best experience, we do receive a lot of bookings through Airbnb.

There has been a lot of bad press lately around Airbnb, both the listing site, as well as short-term rentals as a whole.

You may have read that Airbnb will be providing more regulation and more support to prevent any incidents to not only improve the experience for guests and for hosts, but also for the neighbours of short-term rental properties.

Numerous times I hear from people looking to invest in a vacation rental that if they 'only advertise with AirBnB' then any other regulations, legal implication, tax implication just don't apply.

So let me be clear.  AirBnB is a for profit online travel agent  period.  There isn't anything magical about them that make usurps your property from the rules or declaring it as income or having to collect sales tax or not needing the right insurance.
