Where to eat this weekend

Oh my gosh, how could I forget…..  its Fabuliscious this weekend!!

February 23rd to March 2nd for an incredible opportunity to dine at some of Niagara-on-the-Lake's finest restaurants with special three course menus at amazing prices.

These are the participating restaurants.  While they are a fine selection of what is available for dining we also have a lot of other equally as good restaurants that are open and ready for you.  They have specials too, so if you can’t get a reservation for one of the restaurants listed below then don’t be disappointed, you can get a reservation at Treadwell’s, BackHouse, Garrison House and don’t forget the Angel Inn or the Irish Harp!   Grill on King is nice too, especially their seafood entrees.   I also like to go to the lounges or bar areas where they may be a limited menu but love the atmosphere!

You can make reservations on line through Open Table  or just google the name of the restaurant and call directly.   Larger groups its better to book direct to make sure they have the space to get you all seated together!

  •     Bistro Six-One - Dinner
  •     The Cannery at Pillar & Post - Lunch - Dinner –ranked one of the top steak houses in Canada!
  •     Escabeche at Prince of Wales - Lunch - Dinner – oh my goodness have they raised the bar for enticing entries and top notch service.
  •     Ginger Restaurant - Dinner  - a personal favourite
  •     Hobnob Restaurant & Wine Bar - Lunch - Dinner – got to love a burger done the Hobnob way!
  •     LIV Restaurant at White Oaks Resort & Spa - Dinner
  •     Niagara's Finest Thai - Lunch – still looking to go – getting mixed reviews from friends – those real foodie friends say its ok
  •     Peller Estates Winery Restaurant - Lunch & Dinner – the wine tour is a must especially the ice wine!
  •     Ravine Vineyard Estate Winery - Lunch - Dinner – love to spend the time here!
  •     Restaurant Oban Inn - Lunch - Dinner – an oldie but a goodie!
  •     Tiara Restaurant at Queens Landing - Lunch - Dinner
  •     Trius Winery at Hillebrand - Lunch - Dinner – everything is just yummy
  •     Zees Grill - Lunch - Dinner – a favourite among locals.

The menus are pre-set and they also have a selection of wine.   Given how mild our weather has been, I am sure reservations are needed.    If you don’t like the pre-set menu they all offer the regular menu.

So now that the Shaw Festival Film Series is over, what else are you going to do on a rainy February day?

Or don’t feel like eating out?  Some places have take out  like the new PIeza Pizzera on Victoria St., just off of Queen (towards the Niagara River) or the  Niagara’s Finest Thai on Queen St., by Wellington.    Or my favourite is the salad and hot bar at Harvest Barn.  It is definitely comfort food time!  This week it was cabbage rolls, chicken soup and  a salad bar with all the healthy greens, grains, fruit and even boiled eggs.    Get one of their specialty salamis and some cheese and a selection from the salad bar and you have a meal to graze on evening while hanging out with your favourite people !
